
CICA Scheme Awards
The CICA Scheme for criminal injury compensation
awards is set by Parliament.
The current tariff award scheme has been
operated since April 2001. The tariff scheme sets out
a scale of 25 levels of compensation values for injuries.
Additionally where qualifying financial
losses and expenses, such as loss of earnings and special
expenses. The CICA scheme will pay additional compensation
up to £250,000. The maximum combined compensation
for injuries and financial losses and expenses payable
for an award under the scheme is £500,000.
If the victim suffered multiple injuries
the Scheme will only consider compensation for the three
most serious. There is a reduction scale applied to the
lesser two injuries.
